Case Study: The Model Workshop
We were approached by Tim with a very specific remit; to create a multipurpose shepherd’s hut that would serve as a model-making room, a den for the grandchildren, a tennis pavilion and a general all-round man-cave.
We set to work on the design and layout, which also incorporated a wood burner, for those cold winter evenings. The oak windows were made larger than the average size and positioned at both ends of the hut and Tim’s model-making desk was placed directly under one of these windows, which provided an excellent amount of natural light allowing him to work on the details of his models.
The hut was placed at an angle to provide a perfect viewing platform over the tennis court, and within eye line of the principle guest bedroom in the house, allowing the parents to keep a watch over their children making the most of the hut on their visits;
“We couldn’t be more pleased with our shepherd’s hut. We use it all year round and the grandchildren love coming to visit and sleep on the bunk beds. The rest of the time it’s a wonderful man cave to which I can retreat, work on my models and listen to music. Even our dog Archie loves it and has his own spot in the hut.”
